I was having my hair cut this morning and had an amazing insight into other peoples thoughts and embarrassing moments. We are all really the same. I had a new hairdresser and was telling her about my business, PocoPouch and how it is a environmentally friendly bag for the disposal of sanitary products. We were chatting about it for a little while and she shared a story with me that really surprised me.
She was 13 years old and at a friends house (who happened to be a boy) for a sleepover with other girls and guys from her class. She had her period and didn't know how to dispose of her sanitary pad. So she wrapped it in some toilet paper and put it in her bag to take home with her. Asking your friends mum where to dispose of it is not exactly the thing you do when you're 13. Anyway, things were going great at the party until the dog came into the room with her pad in its mouth. She didn't say exactly what happened after that but you can imagine how embarrassed she must have been.
Her story surprised me for two reasons. Firstly, I had only just met this woman and she was sharing this information with me and secondly, because I had a very similar experience happen to me. It made me realise that women all over the world must go through exactly the same thing. Even if the event didn't happen exactly to you, you must have had something very similar occur. How many people relate to this??
